High ATARs for St Francis de Sales College students

Recent stories

Local students have been acknowledged for their outstanding academic achievements in this year’s HSC examinations.

Some students from St Francis de Sales Regional College, Leeton, performed very well, resulting in the college gaining 14 mentions on the statewide merit list.

A significant number of the college’s students also recorded an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) over 90.

The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that indicates a New South Wales student’s position in relation to all students in their age group.

The top two St Francis de Sales Regional College’s students deserve special mention for their magnificent HSC results.

They were the Dux of the College Isabel Fiumara, who recorded an excellent ATAR of 96.75.

She was closely followed by Archer Asmus who recorded an ATAR of 95.2.

St Francis de Sales Regional College students gained results which were better than the state average in numerous subjects, including Community and Family Studies, drama, English Standard, Industrial Technology, PD/Health/PE, Physics, Construction and Hospitality.

Some of the college’s students produced results which were worthy of a mention on the NSW HSC Merit List in more than one subject.

All students who made the list were:

  • Archer Asmus (Mathematics Advanced)
  • Archer Asmus (Engineering Studies)
  • Nathan Burke (Mathematics Standard 2)
  • James Clarke (Economics)
  • Megan Dore (Hospitality Examination)
  • Isabel Fiumara (Mathematics Advanced)

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said it was important to celebrate students who have ”achieved outstanding outcomes in the face of adversity”.

”Which is why this year, we’ve introduced a new award to recognise the resilience of schools impacted by flooding across the state,” she said.

This year, 14 Commendation Awards will be issued in recognition of school communities that went above and beyond to set-up learning spaces and provide the necessary resources to ensure students could continue learning despite challenges due to flooding.
