As a consequence of a powerful storm on Melbourne Cup Day (Tuesday 1st November), the marine rescue vessel, MV Fearless, broke its mooring and was beached on the east side of Blackburn Island.
Jim McFayden stayed aboard the vessel overnight to make sure the boat remained stable.
The following day, thanks to the help of Craig “Macca” Wilson, Gary “Toss” Payten, Andrew “Smith” Wilson and Aaron Ralph, the boat was refloated and returned safely to its Lagoon mooring.
