“Make your spare room your side hustle”

Nat Traeger, Chief Executive Officer, Kingston District Council, Media Release, 23 September 2022

All ratepayers should have by now received a short survey in the mail to express interest in ‘Room 4 a Roomie’. Please note, the survey can be completed in hard form and returned to the Council Office or online here – www.surveymonkey.com/r/Room4aRoomie

‘Room 4 a Roomie’ is an innovative pilot project which aims to address an accommodation shortage within the Kingston District Council area. We are partnering with Ray White Kingston to match potential tenants with suitable accommodation.

Think security, income, community connection, affordability, companionship plus many other advantages and benefits.

If you have an empty room, holiday home, farmhouse or granny flat and are interested in the potential to earn some extra income, or just looking for someone to share the chores with, we encourage you to express your interest.

Completing the survey does not lock you into anything – it simply gives us an understanding of potential housing stock, and to explore the viability of our pilot project.

If our community responds favourably with sufficient housing options, we will progress to a stakeholder session, which will be available in person or online for those not living in the area.

All information provided in the survey will be treated strictly confidential. As with any community lead solution, ‘Room 4 a Roomie’ needs community support.

I encourage you to consider how you might be able to get involved, and if you are unsure, please give me a call on 0408 809 712.
