Residents around the district supported the Kerang Orchid Show blooming in the Kerang Basketball Stadium over the weekend, hosted by the Mid-Murray Orchid Club.
After a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions, judges from Melbourne travelled to Kerang to award displays designed by local growers.
Plant sales supported the show, as well as a photography competition, open floral art, and the 1st Kerang and Junior Guides also had a floral art display.
Ninety-year-old Chic Dee and his wife, Gwen, had an awarded display, with original club members, George and Lois Shrubsole, claiming the top show honours.
There was also a display dedicated to the lifelong service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Mid-Murray Orchid Club will have a massive show next year as they host the state Orchid Show in July, with clubs around the state participating.
The local members will head to Bendigo in a few weeks for another show. Let’s hope they share a similar success.
The Mid-Murray Orchid Club meets every fourth Tuesday at the Kerang Senior Citizens hall in Boundary Street, Kerang, at 7:30pm.
