When winter frosts arrive, it heralds that special time on our calendar to catch up with friends, renew acquaintances and generally have a great time at our annual Texas Show.

Continued above average rainfall has delivered mixed fortunes to people in the district since our last show. The Texas Show was only one of seven country shows to go ahead in Queensland last year which highlights the determination our community holds to preserve our institution and keep it running well into the future.

A full program of entertainment is again on display this year with multiple events and performances to choose from.

Freestyle stunt motorcycles perform both days and the popular rock-climbing/bungee wall will be open for fun on Saturday. A “Treasure Hunt” beach dig will keep the kids busy on Saturday and as always sideshow alley will be in residence for all your entertainment and gourmet needs. Camp-drafting will be back for a full program both days, weather permitting.

The bar and Whyalla BBQ will be open for your meals and refreshments. The “Honky Tonk Rodeo” promises rough and tumble action commencing late Saturday afternoon. Fireworks will showcase a light and sound spectacular, giving rodeo riders a chance to catch breath before they are back on to test their skill.

“Gold Creek” band is back again after a rousing performance last year and will kick off on the conclusion of the second rodeo session on Saturday night. They will be supported through the day by some emerging local talent and house music.

Tough Texan event is back with international competition coming all the way from Texas USA to test themselves against our local talent so get training.

Our popular Mutton Buster event for the kids will round up the weekend entertainment on Sunday afternoon.

A big thank-you to our show committee, stewards, volunteers, sponsors, judges, sheep and cattle suppliers to camp draft and mutton buster events. I would also like to thank our show visitors who continue to turn up in large numbers and to encourage everyone to explore all avenues and immerse themselves in the culture and spectacle that is the Texas Show.

Enjoy!
