This year’s winter festival is going to be bigger and better than ever. The 17-day event will begin on Friday 24 June, with a bonfire and story-telling at the Maldon Golf Club, followed by an intimate performance by the award-winning classical guitarist Clancy McLeod.

This year Maldon in Winter will bring some dark themes with Goldfields Gothic Festival of Dark Ideas running from 1 to 3 July, with a performance by the dark alternative band IKON, a Gothic/Victorian themed picnic, electronic rock and Phoenix Burlesque troupe.

There will be a wide variety of entertainment and productions, including a spine-tingling exhibition titled ‘Shroud’ at EDGE Gallery, a nod to Neil Diamond and the Hits of the 60s, a theatre production of ‘Lady in the Van’ and ‘Migrant Women in Business’, to name a few.

As always there will be a shopfront window competition with this year’s theme; Scary Tales and Fairytales.

Maldon Inc President Clif Edwards said, “We are very excited at the way the show is coming together and the variety of acts we have. We’ve had fantastic initial support from the town.

“The group of people running Maldon in Winter have fantastic skills and background in event management, and we are going to deliver an astonishing show – think of it as Dark Mofo in Maldon.”

Visit www.maldon.org.au for the full program.

Supported by Mount Alexander Shire Council and the Maldon and District Community Bank.
