The Narrandera High School agricultural show team has followed up on their recent success of champion school at the National Angora Trophy Show in Goulburn by taking out the champion school title in the Angora Goats section at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the second year in a row.

The Royal Easter Show Team consisted Maddison Clifford, Clayton Ewers, Isaiah Hutchison, Hannah McDonald, Talara Wolter, Alex Wright, Ruby Hewitt, Mikalie Vearing, Madeline Fraser, teacher Mr Matthew Shady and Miss Emma Charles.

The team won places in all sections of competition, including the paraders, wether and youth handlers competitions. The most pleasing results were:

  • Champion School – Angora
  • Reserve Champion School – Angora
  • Champion Sires Progeny under 12 months
  • 1st pair of angoras under 12 months
  • 1st in the production class for both under 12 months and for over 12 months
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the schools wether competition.

Other pleasing individual results included Madeline Fraser – Reserve Champion Junior Judges Competition. Madline is now eligible for the National Championships.

Highly commended (junior judges) were Clayton Ewers, Ruby Hewitt, Alex Wright.

NHS Principal Mrs Marni Milne said these results were representative of the commitment and skill of the team and the high-quality agriculture program that has been developed over the last few years at Narrandera High School.

“Special thanks to Matt Shady who has led our angora goats development at the school in his role of Agriculture teacher,” she said.

“ We are very proud of our team and our goats and would like to thank the entire Narrandera community for their support and encouragement during the four days of show competition.

“ It is absolutely fantastic that our students are given the opportunity to compete at the highest level, developing lifelong skills and confidence along the way.”
