World Fisheries Congress – catch it online

Recent stories

Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC), Media Release, 27 September 2021

The World Fisheries Congress (WFC) might be over, but all of the presentations will be available online for another six months, so it’s not too late to register. In the meantime, if you missed it, here are some spoilers for you.

The congress saw 1100 delegates from over 60 countries converge online for four days to discuss the future of the world’s fisheries.

Innovation was a prominent theme in many sessions, with discussion amongst others about offshore platforms producing clean energy, carbon-sequestering seaweed and finfish for the dinner table. And satellite-enhanced wild fisheries targeting their catch with precision, thus reducing their environmental impact.

The congress also identified some common challenges for the sector such as community trust. As this and many others are realities faced by the industry worldwide, it makes sense for everyone to work collaboratively to capitalise on strengths and achieve common goals.

Tune in to watch the recordings of over 30 livestreamed sessions, 650 presentations and poster presentations, continue discussions and meet the delegates.
