The amazing astrophotography competition, Capture the Cosmos, is back and this year it is expected to attract some out of this world entries!

“Capture the Cosmos 2021 is now open for photos to be entered online,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The competition will close on 31 October 2021 so photographers are urged to get outside and start snapping and submitting their incredible photographs.”

“Both amateurs and professional photographers are encouraged to take part in the Capture the Cosmos Photography Competition creating awareness of our breathtaking night skies and ultimately motivating people to visit our beautiful region.” 

“Warrumbungle National Park was the first in the southern hemisphere to receive Dark Sky Park classification and what a great way to showcase the scenes than capturing the beauty,” said Cr Doolan.

“This year the competition is lucky to have highly esteemed, world recognised astrophotography judges on board with extensive experience in astrophotography. Judges are Dr Angel Lopez-Sanchez, Brad le Broque, and Peter Ward, if you would like to find out more about these judges visit the Capture the Cosmos website, their bios are impressive.”

“Council, through its Economic Development and Tourism Committee has been the force behind this remarkably successful photography competition. However, it is with the support from sponsors that this competition is able to keep running each year.
