Lover’s Point is a rocky headland in Yamba that juts out into the ocean. It is located 1.5km south of the breakwall. Access is via Ocean Street, and also Pippa Beach. Waves can be big when accessing from the southern side. It is a 600m walk out to the point.
Fishing here you are most likely to bag Tailor, Bream, Tarwhine, Groper, Jewfish, Tuna, Mackerel, Snapper and Blackfish in season.
The best baits to use in this location would be pilchards, prawns and flesh baits.
If you prefer to use lures, metal lures in weights of 40-80gms for Tailor, Tuna and Mackeral. Big hard bodied lures for Jewfish or large plastics work best.
It is good fishing all year round here.
Great spot for pelagics in the summer months.
It can be shallow and snaggy here so be prepared with lots of tackle and you just might be lucky enough to get a large Jewfish, Tuna, Mackeral, Snapper or Groper.
There are lots of rock pools to keep the kids occupied, or they can spend their time catching small crabs.
