Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said she was excited that PHI’s helicopter operations are being run out of Onslow Airport for a new campaign.

“I am pleased to see that investment into Onslow Airport has reached another milestone with PHI International selecting Onslow as the base for their offshore helicopter passenger transport services on the North West Cape”, acknowledged Councillor White.

“Onslow Airport is an attractive location to conduct offshore rotary wing operations due to its central North West shelf location, offering greater coverage for typical helicopter mission capacity.”

“The Shire of Ashburton worked closely with PHI to ensure compliance requirements were in place and that exclusive use of the hanger and nearby offices met the high standard required for their operations.

“Although the offshore drilling campaign that PHI International are servicing is expected to be completed within six months, Onslow Airport is now well placed for future PHI International contracts or other aviation groups to consider using the airport facilities and hanger for their operations.

“PHI International are hosting a community day at Onslow Airport on Saturday 19 June from 11.30am – 2.00pm.

“Community members will be able to see the helicopter facility for themselves and get up close with their impressive Sikorsky S92A helicopters, as well as enjoy a sausage sizzle and refreshments”.
