Barham girls soar to State heights

In one of Victoria’s largest horse events, and with COVID-19 restrictions in place, Olivia Griffiths and Amber King-Gee competed in the Pony Club Victoria State Show Jumping Championships at Benalla Equestrian Centre on Sunday, February 28.

With perfect sunny conditions in the low 30s, the Northern Zone team, comprising of Rupee, ridden by Amber King-Gee, Surrey Coolman Indigo, ridden by Olivia Griffiths, Raffles Hi Dell Go, ridden by Amelia McCrabb, and Springen Joe, ridden by Oskar Smartt performed well to finish seventh in the D Grade Pony Club Victoria State Show Jumping Championships, scoring 57 points.

In the individual Show Jumping competition, Amelia McCrabb and Raffles Hi Dell Go finished ninth. Amber King-Gee and Rupee finished 35th while Olivia Griffiths and Surrey Coolman Indigo finished 30th. Oskar Smartt and Springen Joe finished 24th.

Rachel Hare, on Mellon Jelly finished third in the A Grade Show Jumping, and on Shecky Express she finished 11th. Summer Halls and Glenwood Park Convince finished 18th.

Northern Zone Dressage competitor, Advanced Championship, Clancy Lyons riding Danson Dartagnion finished seventh.

Grade One, Sophie Griffiths and Benita PD finished 20th with Caitlin Blanch on Zirconi Apsen finishing 21st.

Caitlin Griffiths and Glyndower Brea Galahad won Grade Two. Bianca Griffiths riding Hawkesbury Park Poetry finished 20th. Zhoe Willison with Totoka Lodge Dazzle finished 25th.

Tia Andrews and Swing Time Merlin finished sixth in Grade Three. Ella Osler and Kid Conatus finished 16th. Olivia Burke riding Craft Show finished 17th.

Georgie Acocks and Kenda Park Paladian finished 12th in Grade Four, and Cooper Jenkins on Haddon Park Memphis finished 13th.
