Somerset Regional Council, Media Release, 15 February 2021
The Somerset Art Beat Festival is back on the calendar for 2021 and will see a range of arts, music, performance, and creativity celebrated at The Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery in Toogoolawah.
The festival will be held on Saturday, 29 May between 12pm and 4pm.
To ensure the festival is bigger and better than the inaugural one held in 2019, Somerset Regional Council is on the hunt for Somerset artists, musicians, performers, crafters, school bands, dance groups, choirs or anything else creative.
Somerset Deputy Mayor Helen Brieschke is encouraging the community to get behind and support this great event.
“We need creative people to get involved in making this our biggest and best event yet,” Cr Brieschke said.
“Applications close on 5 March and there are so many opportunities for people to get involved.
“There’s no charge to have a stall because we want to make this as inclusive as possible and celebrate the arts in Somerset.”
A flat dance floor stage and a separate music stage with sound equipment is provided for musicians and performers.
Visual artists and crafters will be offered a stall for free and no commission on artworks will be taken.
Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the art gallery at Toogoolawah was a huge asset to the region.
“We’re pleased to be able to join forces with the Creative Arts Alliance to deliver what will be another great event celebrating the arts in Somerset,” Cr Lehmann said.
“The first event was fantastic and such a great way to recognise and celebrate those with a creative streak. It was a truly inclusive community event.”
