The Painted Years of a 90 year old artist
Age is no barrier to doing what you love. Artist Anthea Moffat turned 90 as her exhibition The Painted Years opened at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle this month. There is still time to see her work ... The Painted Years is a body of paintings that are “partly my background of where I have lived and an exposition of the joy of life,” Anthea said.

Koala Festival brings in the crowds
Overcast skies and cold dismal weather did not deter the public from celebrating Narrandera’s free-ranging koalas at the inaugural Koala Festival on Saturday. The indoor/outdoor event was held at the Narrandera Showground with families arriving en mass to participate in the festivities, all of which were free, courtesy of a NSW Government grant. Almost 1000 festival-goers attended the event.
Kerang Orchid Show blooms
Kendall Jennings. Residents around the district supported the Kerang Orchid Show blooming in the Kerang Basketball Stadium over the weekend, hosted by the Mid-Murray Orchid Club. After a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions, judges from Melbourne travelled to Kerang to award displays designed by local growers.

The Maldon Twilight Dinner 2023 is set to be bigger and better than before with the possible addition of a Friday Night Market. The committee is awaiting council approval to include a free Twilight Market to showcase local street traders, food trucks, produce stalls, bands, and swing and belly dancers.
Ribbon haul for Dean
Kirstin Nicholson. Cohuna’s Dean Smith has just returned from the Royal Adelaide Show with a haul of Grand Champion ribbons. Dean and his family own Strzboer Goat Stud and breed Fullblood Boer Goats, the fullblood meaning that there is traceability with genetics back to South Africa. With 10 years of showing experience at Sydney Royal Easter Show and numerous local and interstate shows, Adelaide had been beckoning.

The Deadly Darwin Goes Walkabout Tour will bring its hilarious show and free stand up comedy workshop to town with the mission of spreading healing through humour.
