Kangaroo Art Trail comes to life
The Maldon in Winter festival kicks off tonight (Friday 23 June) with the long-awaited for Kangaroo Art Trail coming to life! Twenty-four life-sized kangaroos lovingly decorated by an array of local artists and community groups are creatively displayed in shop windows along Main & High Streets in Maldon throughout the festival.
Kangaroo Art at Maldon Primary
Maldon Primary School students have decorated kangaroos for the Kangaroo Art Installation. This art installation is part of the Maldon Winter Festival. Students decorated three kangaroos using a variety of mediums. Students in all grades contributed to the kangaroo artwork.
The show must go on!
The Barkly community was up in arms earlier this week when news hit the Tennant Creek Show was cancelled just 25 days ahead of its arrival into town. Due to failing infrastructure at the Showgrounds and a volunteer burnout, it was looking bleak for the one-day ahead to go about.
Bumper year at the Bellingen Show
Bellingen Show made a triumphant return this year with a bumper event that attracted large crowds and a jam-packed program that offered something for everyone.

Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular
Now in its 11th year, the Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular happens over the weekend of June 17 and 18 at Boonah. It is the richest Clydesdale Show in the Southern Hemisphere, where the grand champions of the breed are judged, the heritage of the breed is shared, and the history of the breed in Australia is toasted.

Bald Archy Prize comes to Brewarrina
In a “shock” move, Australia’s tallest poppies were snubbed in the announcement of this year’s Bald Archy Prize for caricature portraits. The prize went to a portrait by Marty Steel of the founder of the Bald Archy Prize, Peter Batey who passed away in 2019. The caricature depicts Peter Batey riding aloft the airborne figure of chief judge, cockatoo Maude.
66th Dayboro Show, 8-9 July 2023
Dayboro – The Town of Yesteryear is set to come alive when town meets country at the best little country show. The annual Dayboro Show is celebrating 66 years with the 2023 event being held on July 8th and 9th. The show will bring together almost every aspect of rural living from cattle displays, sheep herding and poultry exhibits; to displays of the regions’ historic machinery and a 2-day filled wood-chopping program.
