Success for 2024 Riverland Field Days

Increased attendance and exhibitor numbers, along with ideal weather, all combined for a successful 2024 Riverland Field Days last weekend. With more than 12,000 people attending across the two days and 256 exhibitors filling the event’s grounds, Riverland Field Days executive manager Emma Gwiazda said that weekend revealed "fantastic results overall".

Leading young dairy paraders out for glory at national finals

Australia's most promising  paraders  of dairy cattle have been announced by Agricultural Shows Australia as eligible to compete in the national finals of the prestigious annual competition to be judged this month at Melbourne Royal Show. The winner of the dairy cattle young  paraders  competition will be determined by who has best prepared, presented and paraded their animal before a judge.

Virtuoso pianist Roger Woodward comes to Nimbin

Nimbin School of Arts has an extensive program of diverse cultural events this Spring, but one of the absolute highlights is the Twilight Recital featuring world renowned pianist, teacher and human rights activist, Roger Woodward. Sydney-born and now based in the USA, Roger Woodward’s international career began in the early 1970s and, over the subsequent decades, he has performed in orchestras around the world, and under the baton of some of the most famous conductors.

Carnival of Flowers begins tomorrow

The 75th anniversary staging of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers kicks off tomorrow, 13 September and will continue for a few action-packed weeks until 7 October. Days of Glamour

As part of the ‘Days of Glamour’ exhibition, you can view these beautiful dresses owned and once worn … in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s ... Joy’s dress was bought with money from her father when she was 16, in 1963.

Menang elders lead festival river tours

Menang elder Aunty Vernice Gillies and Menang man Larry Blight will lead guided walking tours along the Kwoorabup riverbanks at the Kwoorabup River Festival [on Saturday 21 September] ... The outstanding success of the 2024 Man From Snowy Bush Festival has been a testament to the dedication of board members and volunteers over a challenging period, chairman Cameron Jackson highlighted at the recent annual general meeting. A report into the economic benefit of Bluesfest to the Northern Rivers region and the state has revealed the music festival, which is in jeopardy of not continuing beyond 2025, contributed $148 million to the region and $235 million to the NSW economy this year. 2024 Wollumbin Art Award winners announced

Tweed-based Wiradjuri artist  Hannah Lange has been awarded the top prize in the 2024 Wollumbin Art Award (WAA) with a stunning painting paying tribute to traditional First Nations weaving entitled Weaving by the River. The artist also wins a two-week residency at the Gallery’s Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio.
