With spring in full swing, the weeds are up and about. Rotor Solutions Australia (RSA), operating out of Albury, has been busy in the Upper Murray spraying winter and spring weeds over the past few months, not only from the helicopter but also using a drone.
Call goes out for responders
Ambulance Victoria (AV) is looking for more recruits to join the Ambulance Community Officer (ACO) team in Corryong. ACOs are First Responders, who are employed on a casual basis to work ‘on call’ in rural and remote communities where the ambulance caseload is low and the ambulance branch is not staffed by multiple paramedics on a full-time basis.
Iconic track comes under review

Health service upgrades equipment
Following receipt of a grant, Corryong Health has replaced old and outdated equipment. “We purchased new Olympus endoscopy equipment which will enable us to perform gastroscopies and colonoscopies in a more efficient manner,” said Tracey Damn, Day Procedure Unit manager. Visiting surgeon, Dr Daniel Chubb, added that “This new equipment is amazing to use and revolutionary because of the artificial intelligence that is at the forefront of medicine in this day and age.
Fire season set to begin
The start date for this year’s Victorian fire season has been set by fire authorities, following a hotter and drier start to spring and warmer conditions ahead ... The CFA will be introducing further FDPs for Victorian municipalities in the coming months, based on assessments of the amount of rain, grassland curing rate and local conditions.

Haines slams housing call
Independent Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines has criticised the Labor government and the Coalition, after the major parties voted down her amendments to the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) Bill moved by Senator David Pocock in the Senate on Dr Haines’ behalf last on Wednesday. “The housing crisis is the biggest issue facing regional Australia yet it is a complete blind spot for this government,” Dr Haines said.
Extending the region’s vision
Post bushfire recovery, agriculture remains a priority for UMI and the Agricultural Recovery Working Group has now become focused on areas identified in the Upper Murray 2030 Vision Plan. Diversity enables resilience and the vulnerability of farmers relying solely on the stability of standard beef or milk prices is a catalyst for this group to investigate what options are worth exploring.
