a 39 years old Westbrook man has been charged after a three day car-jacking spree came to an end in Toowoomba.

The crime spree began on Easter Saturday when the man is alleged to have forced the occupants of a Rav4, out of their vehicle, on Princess Street in Newtown.

Being tracked by police, including Polair, the alleged offender then made his way toward Allora.

The next car-jacking was two hours later, at Spring Creek on the New England Highway.

Firing a single shot into the air, the man forced the occupant of a Subaru Forester to give him his vehicle.

He then fled south in the dual cab.

His next stop was to ditch the Subaru at Ryans Road, Mount Marshall, where he allegedly car-jacked a SsangYong Musso, while armed.

That vehicle was spotted heading toward Oakey at 7.46pm on Sunday.

At approximately 11.40pm on Sunday, the man went to a residence on Gormley Street in Chinchilla, armed with a weapon, and demanded car keys from the residents.

The occupants complied, and the man fled the scene in a silver 2019 Toyota Landcruiser dual cab, allegedly driving through a fence as he left the property.

At 10am on Easter Monday, the Landcruiser was spotted in Toowoomba.

The alleged offender then tried to steal the car of motorsport legend Bob Power at Herries Street, East Toowoomba, where the ex-motorsport driver was held at gunpoint.

“I didn’t want him to get in the car, so he had the shotgun pointed at me,” he told 7News.

“I said to him twice, ‘don’t shoot me’.

“I’ve opened the door up to get the dog out, and the police arrived, and pounced on him.”

Police apprehended the suspect at Eastville shopping centre before 1pm on Monday.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam vision is urged to contact police.

The Westbrook man was taken to Toowoomba Police Station on Monday afternoon for questioning and on Tuesday morning police revealed that he had been charged with almost 20 offences following the serious alleged incidents involving multiple stolen vehicles across the Darling Downs and South West District.

He has been charged with four counts of robbery with violence, four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, attempted robbery, and unlawful possession of weapons.

The man was expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Investigations continue and further charges are expected.
