Last year’s cattle tick issue sorted as the 100th show is ready to roll

Here’s some good news about Bonalbo’s 100th Show — it’s on.

The show committee is pleased to inform competitors, exhibitors and sponsors that the Bonalbo Showgrounds are no longer under restrictions as an adjoining holding for cattle tick.

Last year, The Bonalbo Show was cancelled because of the tick infestation.

After months of treatment with support from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development the immediate neighbours to the showgrounds have completed their eradication program with no cattle tick detected since the initial discovery in early 2025.

In conjunction with DPIRD the adjoining holdings will be conducting a proactive risk mitigation program until April 30 to ensure cattle tick remain eradicated.

“We appreciate the significant efforts of our neighbours and the NSW DPIRD over the previous period to control and eradicate cattle ticks, acknowledging that this is extremely important to the viability of the cattle industry in north-eastern NSW,” a show committee spokesperson said.

“We are pleased to confirm that effective immediately, there are no longer any controls for the movement of stock from the Bonalbo Showgrounds.”

Remember the date — Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18.

Come join in the fun at the Bonalbo Centenary Show at the Bonalbo Showgrounds.
