Expo success for Mid-Murray businesses

Recent stories

Almost 400 people filed through the impressive displays and stalls at the Mid Murray Industry Expo. 32 site holders showcased a range of services, products and expertise available in the local community. From forestry, to milled timber products, veterinary services, fires and ambulance services, real estate, garden supplies, plumbing, education, and so much more.

Western Murray Land Improvement Group Executive Officer said the day was inspiring and filled with connections

“The Industry Group Forum was a tremendous success, and I’m incredibly proud of our WMLIG team, along with the local businesses, community groups, and schools who came together to support this event.”

“It truly reflected what people told us they wanted during the development of the Southern Riverina Drought Resilience Plan that funded the day — more collaboration, stronger business networks, and greater opportunities to engage the next generation.”

“The panel sessions were particularly inspiring, with local producers and business owners sharing their journeys of diversification and innovation. It was uplifting to see how much potential exists in our region — one farmer told me he was so inspired he plans to bring his son along next time, and I’ve already heard that several young attendees have received job and apprenticeship offers.”

“Events like this demonstrate the power of connection and the importance of working together to build a resilient and vibrant regional economy.”

Adding to the buzz on the day was broadcasting from ACE Radio. Local food vans kept the hungry hordes satisfied, as they wandered the live displays, listened to the three panel discussions and soaked in the atmosphere.

“Western Murray Land Improvement Group were blown away by the community support for our first Mid Murray All industries Expo,” said event co-ordinator Karen Lyons

“The feeling around the event was electric, and when the Barham schools came through and engaged with our community traders, retailers, business owners and companies, we realised we had set in motion what should be an annual event”

“The panel discussions were engaging and informative and covered so many sections of the industries that are in and around Barham and Koondrook”

“Drought and the impacts of drought can leave lasting consequences, but when you have a strong and resilient community like Koondrook and Barham has – you have a strong support network, and this shone through at the expo”

“Through the support of the Southern Riverina drought resilience plan and Murray River Council – WMLIG were able to create an event that will have a lasting impact, but which can also be enhanced in years to come”

“Let’s make next year even bigger – bring on 2026”
