Narrandera District Community Radio Spirit FM 91.1 prides itself on prioritising community needs and strong connections ensuring listeners are well-entertained and are up-to-date and informed about district and community events.
Spirit FM volunteers, for nearly 21 years, have enjoyed working hard to deliver quality uninterrupted radio listening. 91.1 is on-air 24-hours and can be streamed from anywhere in the world playing tunes from an over 80,000 song library.
Have you ever thought to get involved in local radio? It’s easy to do! Maybe as a presenter with your own show, behind the scenes seeking out grant opportunities and making applications, assisting to manage the music library, as a voice-over for sponsor announcements or special messages and/or just to help with administration tasks.
Contact numbers are below for anyone keen to find out more. Spirit FM would love to hear from people as the future of the station depends on the people who get behind it.
Sponsorships are an amazing way to get behind the district and community radio. A huge thanks is extended to all current sponsors. Spirit FM receives no other funds so relies on sponsorship, memberships and occasional fundraising.
Annual running and administration costs need to be met to stay on air and to retain broadcasting licensing.
Recently major sponsor, the Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club, agreed to continue to sponsor the hourly AIR News/Sport with a sponsorship of over $4000 to pay for these services.
The Exies are always giving back to the community and the current Community Radio team is most grateful for this generous sponsorship and all other ways the club supports Spirit FM.
A recent segment titled ‘Community CatchUp’ has been added to the radio’s programming on Thursday and Friday mornings from 9 to 11 am. Guests are invited to book in and come along and catch listeners up on events, services and topics of interest.
A spokesperson for Spirit FM commented that if any individual, club, organisation or current sponsors would like to come along into the station for a chat to please either call or text 0488 591 666 or send a message to the station via messenger.
Non-member businesses are welcome too for a nominal fee if they make arrangements by calling or sending a message.
Guests so far on ‘Community CatchUp’ have included topics about Youth Holiday Activities, all things golf, Murrumbidgee and Narrandera Landcare, koalas, Western Riverina Arts, wellbeing and childhood health awareness, Parkside Cottage Museum and some local history, NSW Parliament experience Young Aboriginal Leaders Program, all things Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club and Narrandera Lions and Fusion.
Spirit FM thanks all guests to date and looks forward to welcoming many more but please get in touch to book a spot.
If Thursday or Friday mornings don’t suit people to come along, a message or phone call to Jock on 0488 591 666 can easily work out another time. In addition to recorded sponsor announcements, Spirit FM presenters announce events, specials, news from current sponsors and non-for-profit groups.
The radio would love to be the community’s first-choice for announcements to spread the word around district and local community. Email any flyers to ncradio@bigpond.net.au or drop hard copies into the letterbox on the gate at the station.
Exciting news! Thanks to Narrandera Sound and Lighting, Spirit FM will soon have a new-look website that will complement its existing Facebook page.
Nearly 21 years old and, with continued community support, Narrandera District and District Community Radio is committed to community with hopes of many more years on-air to come.
Get involved, help Spirit FM out, engage in socials, keep in contact, send the radio your information and flyers, become a sponsor or member and stay tuned into 91.1.
