Maldon Kids Club Christmas Concert was absolute pandemonium, according to the coordinator of the event, Reverend Darcy Vaughan. The usually unflappable Rev. Darcy was challenged in every direction; the play featured 25 kids and a pony.
“It was probably crazier than I had factored in, it’s that old saying about children and animals — the pony crapped in the church twice — plus we had singing and dancing,” he said. However, he described it as a great success and the huge crowd in the church clearly loved every moment. “The thing that was fantastic is that it was very entertaining, it appealed to a wide cross-section of people and extended families came from out of town so it attracted a wonderful audience.”

And what is the story with the robot, you ask? It’s obvious really: the robot (played enthusiastically by Darien, who also made the cardboard costume) had many questions about the customs surrounding the birth of Jesus, so the other characters in the play had some explaining to do!
