In our sister publication The Clifton Courier, over the past two weeks we have been exploring the history of local churches in the area and this week Greenmount’s very own St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is featured.
St. Joseph’s, which sits in an elevated position overlooking the town on Warkon Street, was built in 1958. However, it was not Greenmount’s first Catholic Church, with the original church built on what is now the New England Highway at East Greenmount.
Those who would like to see the full story and many photos of St. Joseph’s can pick up a copy of the Clifton Courier. It is available from Blossom Café & Post in Greenmount, Nobby Store, Cambooya Store, Wyreema Store, several newsagents in Toowoomba and in Clifton at the Jam Factory, FoodWorks and the Clifton Courier office, where previous editions that covered churches in Clifton, Nobby and Leyburn are available.
