Recent stories

As the Upper Murray Christmas Cattle Sale approaches on December 6th, excitement is building in the Corryong community and beyond.

Held at the Corryong Municipal Saleyards and accessible online via Auction Plus, this annual sale conducted by Costello Rural has established a reputation for featuring high-quality, locally bred, grass-fed cattle that are yard-weaned and immune-ready prepared – ensuring excellent health and productivity.

This year, the sale proudly highlights local lines from well-respected local farms including:-

  • ‘Baringa’, Towong: 150 Angus steers and 70 heifers with Merridale bloodlines
  • ‘Wabba House’, Tintaldra: 140 Angus steers and 70 heifers with Raff bloodlines
  • ‘Nariel Pines’, Nariel: 80 Angus steers and 40 heifers with Merridale bloodlines

“At a time when buyers are increasingly seeking resilient and healthy livestock, this sale emphasises quality animals that have thrived on Upper Murray pastures,” said Costello Rural principal, Justin Costello.

“Each line reflects the dedication and care of our local farmers, whose names are well-known throughout the region for their commitment to sustainable and responsible farming practices.

“In addition to being an excellent opportunity for buyers, the Christmas sale is also an ideal event for local producers to consider listing their cattle. Joining the sale connects sellers with a wide network of buyers across Australia, both in-person and online, fostering a broader market reach while supporting the local economy.

“We encourage farmers who may be interested in listing their cattle in this year’s sale to reach out.

“With the support of our team at Costello Rural, every step of the process is managed with professionalism and a deep respect for the hard work that goes into raising quality cattle.

“The community’s strength lies in our shared commitment to excellence in agriculture.

“By supporting local sales like this, we’re ensuring a bright future for the local farming industry and strengthening the bonds that make the Upper Murray a unique and thriving place,” Justin added.
