One raft sank, and the pirates won as West of the Range Regatta makes a big splash

The first regatta in 30 years made a splash on the Clarence River yesterday, Saturday, October 19.

The West of the Range Regatta had four pubs competing with handmade rafts.

The rafters had to paddle from Dave Ross’s place up the Clarence River, pass under the bridge and land at Tabulam.

Nauti Buoy from Mallanganee Hotel came in first. Second was Tabulam Hotel, and third was the Dog n Bull’s raft from Bonalbo.

The Lunatic Hotel from Drake would have come fourth – but they sank.

Mallanganee took the trophy to the pub and next year, maybe they can be beaten.

For now though – I reckon they’ll still be celebrating.

Below are photos from the race.
