Ranger Nick donates 100 per cent of his fee at an epic fundraising event
Ranger Nick, Media Release, 2 October 2024
In an effort to raise much needed funds, the Guy Fawkes Heritage Association is opening its doors at the Ebor Sports and Recreation Grounds for their 20th anniversary on Saturday, 12th of October 2024.
This fundraising event is all about shining a spotlight on the remarkable high quality heritage horses of the Guy Fawkes. Known for their intelligence and level headedness the breed is a perfect mount for any discipline, boasting traits like sure-footedness, resilience, bravery, trainability, and a gentle nature.
The Association’s spokesperson, Erica Jessup, announced “We are thrilled to host celebrities such as James Blundell and Ranger Nick, who have generously donated their time to our cause. We would like to sincerely thank the artists and express our gratitude for their invaluable contribution”.
Ranger Nick, an award-winning figure, is committed to support a number of community and fundraising initiatives each year, proudly sharing that it’s his way of “giving back and paying it forward.”
Attendees can look forward to his entertaining and educational cooking demonstrations. Ranger Nick will include showcasing the Australian Bedourie Oven, which was specifically designed to be used with pack horses, due to its lightweight and durable design.
The committee is hard at work planning an event that will highlight the versatility of the brumbies, showcasing skills like pack saddling, eventing, and other competitive disciplines.
Almost 200 years of Australia’s history is inextricably linked with the wild horses found in the Guy Fawkes River National Park. They are direct descendants of Australia’s wartime horses and are the only group of Australian wild horses to have proven local heritage listed value.
All proceeds from this event will support the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association’s mission to protect this extraordinary local breed, advocating for humane methods like passive trapping and re-homing instead of aerial culling, which is currently practised in other regions.
The Open Day will commence at 10am and see activities such as camp oven cooking by Ranger Nick, who will also facilitate a hands-on damper making workshop for the kids. There will be market stalls, whip cracking, Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Challenge and conclude with a concert, featuring country music singer James Blundell.
Get ready for an unforgettable family day!
