Yanco Agricultural High School polocrosse riders and Equestrian Centre competitors have been achieving success recently.
Maddison Eade and Harrison Scarlett from Year 11 and Lizzie Scarlett and Luci Foster from Year 7 competed in the Yass PoloX carnival held at Hall in ACT recently.
Maddison was awarded the women’s encouragement award for her fantastic riding all weekend while Luci was awarded the junior encouragement award at the Burradoo Carnival.
Lizzie and Luci’s Yass team were runners-up in the A grade Juniors. They also stepped up at the last minute to ride with Maddison in the C grade comp, who were winners on the day. Harrison also rode hard all weekend for his Tumbarumba mens team.
Harry and Maddie have their sights set on success at Coonabarabran Interschools this year for the YAHS team and are training hard with the younger girls for the next few months.
The Yanco Agricultural High School Equestrian Centre at Yanco is booming with 24-plus horses now in residence.
Students and horses are settling into the busy environment of the stables and Equine teacher Fiona Edwards said it was fantastic to see so many students taking up this opportunity to have a horse at school.
