Wide Open Spaces

Recent stories

The March long weekend brings with it many entertaining events throughout the region.

Just a hop, skip and a jump away, will be Beulah’s not-to-be-missed Wide Open Spaces Festival; a weekend of music, art, food and fun at the Beulah Recreation Reserve.

The Festival begins on Saturday, March 9, with a Creekside Market 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a concert from 2 p.m., with music running right through until 10 p.m..

For the musically inclined, Wide Open Spaces has a wonderful line up of talent scheduled including headliner, Paul Costa and his band. Paul is a Golden Guitar holder and has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He’s very popular and puts on a great show.

One man band, Rhys Crimmin, won the Busker Award at Tamworth last year. He plays a variety of musical equipment including the didgeridoo, which will sound brilliant in the evening echoing across the beautiful creekside location.

Continuing the line-up is the locally renowned Darryn Wardle and Jeff Woodward duo, which never fails to put on a good show; the Fairy Wrens are an all-girl group with vocals, guitar, flute and keyboard; Brylie Chivell and Hannah Donaldson will also entertain with their harmonies as well as classic crowd pleasers, the Edmonds family.

On Sunday

Wide Open Spaces Festival will continue on Sunday, March 10, with a fishing competition from 8 a.m. to midday, which is followed by the Family Fun Day.

This will be an afternoon and evening of music, food and relaxation with activities such as Squatter Coffey’s Pony Rides and Horse and Cart rides, face painting, games, interactive music by the Edmonds Family and lots of things for the whole family.

Gaye Edmonds will be leading the interactive musical entertainment for the kids, and other activities continuing throughout both days include Remote Controlled Mini Trucks, a Classic Car Display and an Art Display, Craft and Food workshops.

Local gourmet food, coffee and cold drinks are available throughout the weekend, and BYO alcohol is also allowed in designated spaces, with responsible behaviour encouraged.

For the weekend, there will be a $200 lucky wristband prize drawn on Sunday afternoon, March 10.

Free unpowered camping sites available and tickets can be purchased at the venue or at www.eventbrite.com.au/e/wide-open-spaces-festival-tickets-791672241987.
