Akuragoda five -wicket Saturday

On Saturday, the Koondrook Recreation Reserve hosted two T20 matches of the Swan Hill District Cricket Association (SHDCA).

The Raiders had a good performance the previous week against Swan Hill and were expected to put up a strong fight. However, in the first match, Barham Koondrook faced Nyah District, who won the toss and elected to bat. After 20 overs, Nyah District scored 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Warren Lolicato bowled four overs, took two wickets, conceded 21 runs and even had one maiden over. Chameera Akurugoda bowled four overs and took three wickets, conceding 20 runs. Tom Guerra bowled four overs, took two wickets and conceded 25 runs. In the field, Chameera Akurugoda and Garry Lolicato caught two, while Mason Laursen and Riley D’Silva caught one each.

With the bat, opening batsman, Warren Lolicato scored 56 runs in 43 balls, including four fours and two sixes, before being caught by Shame Fleming from Nyah District captain Benjamin Shadbolt’s delivery.

The Raiders scored 129 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs, resulting in a 31-run loss.

In the second match, Barham Koondrook faced Wandella. Wandella won the toss and elected to bat. After 20 overs, Wandella was 9/104.

Riley D’Silva bowled three overs, captured three wickets and conceded 12 runs. Barham Koondrook captain, Jayden Hall, bowled four overs, captured two wickets and conceded 17 runs. Chameera Akurugoda bowled four overs, captured two wickets and conceded 16 runs. Tom Guerra bowled three overs, had one maiden, captured two wickets and conceded five runs.

Seven catches were taken on the field; Mason Laursen made two, with Charles Adams, Lauchlan Laursen, Tom Guerra, Garry Lolicato and Raiders captain, Jayden Hall, making one each.

With the bat, Leigh Sobotnicki faced 19 balls and hit three fours, before being caught for 23 by Laine Gibbons from an Ethan McKnight delivery.

After 18.2 overs, Barham Koondrook was all out for 80, losing the match by 24 runs.

In the association T20 statistics, Chameera Akurugoda is the fifth-best bowler with six wickets. In fielding, Garry Lolicato ranks fourth best with three catches.
