GrainGrowers has announced the winners of its annual Calendar Competition which provides Australian grain growers the opportunity to showcase the beauty of farm life through photography.

This year, a significant number of high-quality entries were submitted from across the country. Photographs sent in by grain farming families working in NSW, Qld and Vic took out the first, second and third prize.

GrainGrowers’ CEO Shona Gawel said the annual competition highlights the behind-the-scenes work of growers and the beauty of Australian agriculture.

“The Calendar Competition had been running for many years and choosing the winning entries is always a tough job for the judge. This year’s entries reflected the beauty of grain farming and the hard work of growers across the cropping season to produce food for consumers in Australia and around the world.”

The Top 12 photos will be featured in the 2024 GrainGrowers Calendar and each member household will receive a copy.

Annabel O’Dea (NSW) won the $1000 prize for her photo ‘Harvesting canola during golden hour.’ Annabel’s photo was praised for its technical expertise and its use of light to highlight dust from the harvester.

Winners of the competition included:

  • First place winner: Annabel O’Dea (Moama, NSW) – ‘Harvesting Canola during golden hour’
  • Second place winner: Alisha Campbell (Toobeah, Qld) – ‘Done for the day’
