Places filling fast for opening events

Recent stories

The Corryong Golf Club has received strong interest in two events scheduled for the weekend of November 18 and 19 when the new synthetic greens will be officially opened.

The field for the 3-person ambrose on the Saturday has been filled with a capacity 24 teams.

Spots are still available for the open (men’s and women’s) tournament on the Sunday. Entries can only made by email to corryonggolf@gmail.com (player’s name, Golflink no. and phone number).

To book for the Celebratory Dinner on Saturday night phone the club on 02 6076 1081 (Chinese Banquet $10 per person).

A working bee will be held this Sunday November 5th at 10am – as many golf members as possible are needed to instal new tee signs and course markers, tidy up the greens and tees in preparation for the opening weekend.

In other golf news, the Men’s Golf Club annual general meeting is on Thursday November 9th at 6pm at The Club. All members are urged to attend.

The club is also introducing a junior development program in the near future.

Interest in the sport is growing with Corryong College students playing golf as part of this semester’s sport curriculum and Cade Webb (Regional Manager, Murray District Golf) visiting Sacred Heart School on Tuesday to conduct a ‘Lunchtime Launch It’ session with pupils using video technology.

The club held discussions with Cade and College staff in the afternoon to develop a formal junior program – stay tuned.

Hills Zone Pennant Draw R1 5/11/23 at Adelong

7.30 Adelong v Batlow
8.00 Tumba v Welaregang
8.30 Corryong v Holbrook
9.00 Walwa v Khancoban

Welaregang

The highly anticipated start to the 9@9 Summer Cup turned out to be a low key affair with just three dedicated (or desperate?) golfers hitting the fairways.

With other members busy with silage, injuries, work commitments or just washing their hair that day Rob Cox claimed the five points for a win with a steady 17 stableford points, just two ahead of Paul Land.

The competition continues this Saturday at 9am with visitors most welcome, while on Sunday Rob will lead the club’s pennant team into battle against Tumbarumba at Adelong.
