Golfing in the dark

Recent stories

Organised by Matt Clark, approximately twenty-five keen golfers enjoyed a barbecue to start off their night golf game, in Donald on Saturday, September 23.

The night was perfect for the purpose, with no breeze, and a half-moon casting enough light to give those in attendance a good impression of their surroundings, though still dark enough to warrant well-lit indicators to keep golfers hitting towards the greens.

Strategically placed flashing green markers along the center of the fairways, pink markers around the scrapes, a green marker at the top of the flag stick with two pink markers mid-way down, and a green one inside the cup, provided all the guidance golfers needed in the low light to have a fun and interesting competition.

The first night game in a number of years, participants enjoyed the experience so much, it was suggested it become a regular annual event. The lucky card drawn awarded the Luke Clark family with a prize of regular golf balls (not the glow-in-the-dark kind).

Matt Clark, his family and friends who were involved in the successful night golf game are to be commended for their efforts with such a fun and entertaining activity. Also many thanks to Maree and Margot for cooking the barbecue.
