Nhill Coast Busters Coastrek success

Recent stories

Congratulations to Nhill Coastbusters Sarah White, Meg Hall, Holly Beattie and Emily Gladdis, who took on the challenge of the Coastrek 35 km on Friday at the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The team finished the trek in 9 hours and 47 minutes.

It was a tough day for the girls; they had no idea what they were in for, being a new track from other years. From Parsons Beach to Encounter Bay on the Heysen Trail, and the views were absolutely amazing. The coastline was so rugged, but it was up and down over rocks on the sand with lots of inclines then going down was so steep at times; the bluff climb was a killer and that was climbed after 20km. They didn’t hit the flat ground until they were in Encounter Bay on the bike track, then into Victor Harbour, over Granite Island, back over the bridge and all the way along the coast to Horseshoe Bay, Port Elliott.

Congratulations to the team, who, although sore, raised over $8300 for the Heart Foundation. A big shout out to the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle for their annual Bingo fundraiser or donated to the team. Nhill Coast Busters finished as the No 1 team Fundraiser for the 35km event.

Congratulations girls.
