Nobby State School celebrates 125th

Recent stories

On the 15th November 1897, the first students rocked up to the new Nobby State School, signalling the start of one of the most successful small schools in the local area with students still achieving at the school in 2022.

As well as having a good academic record, Nobby is a school that knows how to turn on a great event for its community so locals are looking forward to the celebration.

It’s planned to stage the 125th anniversary event on Saturday 12th November.

Officially the programme will start at 10am and run until 4pm, but past students will be able to register at the school from 9.30am.

The morning will include a couple of performances by current students.

There will be one performance at 10.30 and about an hour later the music teacher will lead a further performance.

Also during the morning, current teaching staff will be conducting tours around the school, no doubt bringing back some memories for many.

Official formalities will take place at 12.30pm, which will include the cutting of an anniversary cake, to be followed by a call of the rolls between 1pm and 1.30.

Students will present more entertainment at 2.30 and it’s planned to stage a duck race in the school pool at 3.30.

Nobby Hall will become the focal point at 4pm when a bush dance will be happening until about 5.30pm with food and a bar in operation.

Nobby P&C Association has called on any past families of the school or any community members to loan any photos, or any memorabilia or submit stories they have about the school by contacting the school on 4696 3233.
