Mansfield & District Racing Club, Media Release, 2 December 2021
Picnic Racing will feature at Mansfield on Sunday January 9 with a Summer festival of family fun.
The Mansfield Hygain Cup meeting will feature thrilling racing, a host of entertainment and fabulous catering.

The picturesque Mansfield racecourse is situated on the Midland Highway, just three kilometres from the centre of town. Extensive lawns, shady trees and a terraced grandstand provide the perfect setting to lay out a picnic and enjoy the action on and off the track.
With crowds being warmly welcomed back to picnic racing in the High Country, many of the traditional features will also return.
Fashions on the Field, with categories for children, teens, women, men and couples will be a highlight, along with music from local favourites Rose and Scarlet Hanratty, while roving circus performers will provide fun and entertainment for children and adults alike.

The popular betting shed, where bookies and totalisator provide opportunities for a flutter at Mansfield and other race meetings, has been upgraded with new tables and chairs and additional shade. Undercover seating for seniors will also be provided.
A new feature for 2022 will be the Mansfield Cup Parade, held prior to the main race.
The stunning Mansfield Cup trophy will be escorted along the straight by riders including pony club members and high country horse men and women, before being carried into the presentation area by well-known jockeys who began their riding career at Mansfield, under the tutelage of popular local trainer Gerald Egan.

The Mansfield District Racing Club is committed to providing a safe day out for all patrons. Free buses will run to and from outlying areas including Merrijig, Jamieson and Bonnie Doon, as well as the town centre. No BYO alcohol is permitted with bars providing a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink choices.
