Parts of a tightly held grazing country in the Flinders Ranges have been sold for the first time in 114 years.
The Stokes family split up the 5,127 hectares of land into four properties spanning. The largest block, the 2,419 hectare Blue Hills, was sold for $1,480,000 to a neighbour, above the $1 million expectations. It runs 600 ewes and 400 replacements, and is watered by three bored and three dams.
Lot 2, Hills, spanning 2,174 hectares, was picked up by a local family for $800,000 and had been run to 800 wethers.
Lot 3, the 440 hectare Top Place, sold for $500,000 to another local family, while 94.5 hectare Lot 4, Long Paddock remains for sale.
