Cougarettes fight to beat Kyogle

Casino Cougarettes had mixed fortunes against Kyogle Turkeys in Ladies League Tag rugby at Queen Elizabeth Park on Saturday.

A grade beat the Turkeys 27-24, while the reserves lost 36-18 and the under-18s went down 26-20.

A grade coach Kirk Hancock said his side had a tough fight for the win.

“They were evenly matched teams and it came down to who controlled the ball the most,” he said.

Players’ player went to Kiha Yuke and the 3, 2, 1 best and fairest went to Kirby Petty, Kiha Yuke and Olivia Armstrong respectively.

The Cougarettes play Ballina at Ballina’s home ground of Kingsford Smith Park on Sunday at 10.30am.
