The Bundaberg Region has been named a top trending Queensland travel destination, with a surge of interest surrounding the area for the school holidays.

It’s great news, according to Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid, who said the region had plenty to offer visitors at any time of year.

“We know the Bundaberg Region is a special place to be, and it’s no surprise to see that our home town is one of the highest trending destinations on Wotif for the Easter school holidays,” she said.

“Many of our tourism industry work hard to ensure they have their product listed across online travel agency platforms like Wotif, showcasing the region and all of the wonderful experiences we have in our backyard, like our easy access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, our food and drink heroes, our parks and gardens.

“This increases visibility for the Bundaberg Region and supports all of the other businesses in the region that benefit indirectly from the visitor dollar.

“High five to the awesome tourism industry that have driven this ranking for the region!”

Wotif Managing Director, Daniel Finch said it was fantastic to see Bundaberg as a top travel destination this Easter and the school holidays.

“Having missed out on an Easter getaway last year, it’s clear many Aussies are keen to make up for lost time with travel interest surging up over 410% in the Bundaberg Region this year,” he said.

“Bundaberg is the perfect base for families looking to get out and about these school holidays.

“Families are spoilt for choice when it comes to enjoying the great outdoors, whether it’s exploring the southernmost tip of the Great Barrier Reef, the renowned Botanic Gardens or embarking on a food tour, discovering some of the country’s finest bakers, baristas and brewers, Bundy is sure to delight the whole family.”
