Small scale olive growers often struggle to harvest the minimum amount for processing by commercial contractors, so Bendigo-based The Long Road Olive Co-op is looking to solve this problem by purchasing a mobile processing line. A steering committee, driven by community advocate and passionate olive oil producer Ceilidh Meo, is forming the co-operative to foster community benefits for both olive producers and consumers.

Volunteer network sparks interest
On Thursday July 3, a passionate group of 16 individuals gathered at cluBarham to expand on the groundwork they laid at the initial volunteerism roundtable held in May. The group reflected on the challenges that can be presented in attracting new members, enticing a younger demographic, the vast range of skills available in the area, and often the overlooked aspects or roles that many don’t know even exist.
Too many compromises says Cr
Patricia Gill. Shire councillor Aaron Wiggins described the approval of 15 tiny cabins on Raintree Estate as 'too many compromises' without getting the best result for the community. Cr Wiggins moved the motion to approve the development 'en bloc' of five separate lots, at the June 24 Denmark Shire Council meeting. Though he moved the motion, he was against it.
Photos wanted for memorial
A collaboration of local community groups is working together on a project to construct a memorial in Corryong's Avenue of Honour and missing photos of local servicemen and women who served in World War I are being sought for the tribute.
Corryong celebrates milestone

‘Hippy’ happy with arts progress
Patricia Gill. Denmark Arts' latest life member Avril Steyl belonged to an influx of Hippies in the 1970s who created Denmark as a centre for the arts. She was presented with the award at a community arts event at Denmark Artshouse on June 27 in acknowledgement for her work in the arts and music.
Covid concerns at community meeting
The adverse effects of Covid vaccines and concerns about how the process was administrated by the government were heard at a community meeting at Maclean on Sunday ... SA first: All hours ambos
Copper Coast is set to become the first regional area in South Australia to host a 24-hour ambulance crew. A team of 12 SA Ambulance Service career paramedics will begin operating from Moonta from Monday, July 14, before relocating to the Wallaroo Ambulance Station later this year once major upgrades at that site are complete.
