Tenterfield says no to CVC’s anti-mining stance
Geoff Helisma. Tenterfield Shire Council voted unanimously at its June meeting that it “does not support” Clarence Valley Council’s (CVC) decision “to oppose mining in the Clarence River catchment”. The Tenterfield council was responding to CVC’s correspondence, which was sent to “adjoining councils that have responsibility for areas draining into the Clarence River catchment, requesting that they support council’s stand and … oppose mining in areas affecting the Clarence River catchment”.
Bellingen council back’s CVC’s anti mining stance

"So, this is asking that we don’t mine areas of high rainfall where there is a chance that it will have lasting effects on the environment and our economic opportunity. Shenhua hoping for $120m windfall from Liverpool Plains aggregations
Shenhua Watermark Coal has moved to sell off its Liverpool Plains landholdings with expectations of $120 million after the New South Wales government paid the company to give up its mining licence. They comprise three aggregations, Breeza, Tambar Springs and Barraba, covering a combined 16,570 hectares in the north west’s Gunnedah region.
Mining Minister inspects promising Rover project
Mining Minister Nicole Manison was in town to check out the progress of the highly anticipated Castile Resources’ Rover 1 project, 80km south-west of Tennant Creek. ... The Rover 1 project is targeting high grade gold and copper zones associated with massive magnetite ironstone (IOCG), similar to the mines around Tennant Creek.
Mining exploration kicks off in earnest

Corazon Mining announced on the Australian Stock Exchange on June 17 that it has “commenced drilling at the Mt Gilmore Copper Cobalt Gold Project”, which is 25km northwest of Grafton. “Drilling will target the priority 8km-long Gordonbrook Hill – May Queen copper-cobalt/silver-gold anomaly, within the greater 20km long Mt Gilmore Trend,” the announcement states.
