Corryong celebrates milestone
The community is being invited to get on board for the the celebrations as Corryong marks its 150th anniversary this month with a week of community-led events, exhibitions and activities that mark its rich heritage, pioneering spirit and vibrant local culture. Running from Sunday 20 July to Sunday 27 July, 2025, the '150 Years of Corryong' commemoration will bring together residents, visitors and artists to share in the stories, momentous occasions and memories that have shaped the town's story over generations.

Ambulance times put us at risk
The Towong and Indigo Shire Councils have joined Member for Benambra, Bill Tilley, in raising serious concerns about having the worst ambulance response times in the state. "Regional ambulances are propping up our failing health system, leaving their own communities dangerously exposed and driving response times to be the worst in state," Mr Tilley said.
Graziers want high country opened up
Jeff Bourman of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party of Victoria and Member for the Eastern Region, has called for a pilot project for the reintroduction of grazing cattle to the High Country ... "The Mountain Cattlemen's Association has been looking after the high country for more than 150 years and they know the area like the back of their hand."
Remembering a night at the ‘flicks’
In the mid 1950s the old weatherboard Athenaeum Hall in Corryong was to be demolished, to make way for the new Memorial Hall. Bill Newman owned the projection equipment and showed movies in the old hall on a weekly basis.
Councils say farmers still need more help
Rural Councils Victoria (RCV) has acknowledged some breakthrough wins delivered by the Victorian government's Drought Response Taskforce, while warning significant challenges remain unresolved. The government has agreed to speed up access to interstate fodder, expand fodder delivery routes and fast-track kangaroo control permits for rural landholders.
Tee to green
With a maximum forecast of seven degrees, five dedicated (or crazy) golfers hit the fairways in clearing drizzle to contest a stableford event played off the red tees. It was a welcome return to form for the winner Lance Noonan, carding 33 points on the adjusted handicaps.
