Council staff down tools

Towong Council workers have launched historic industrial action over what they consider an "unfair" pay offer and rising charges for residents. For the first time in the council's history, its workers have commenced are taking protected industrial action in response to a wage proposal that workers say fails both staff and the local community.

Listen up! Council drives hospital protest

Towong Shire Council is encouraging the community to rally in Corryong next month to oppose the planned redevelopment of the current Albury hospital instead of building on a new greenfield site. "Council remains gravely concerned at the current plans to redevelop the existing hospital site as it will lead to insufficient capacity to meet the future demands of the region for the future," said Towong mayor, Cr Andrew Whitehead.

Photos wanted for memorial

A collaboration of local community groups is working together on a project to construct a memorial in Corryong's Avenue of Honour and missing photos of local servicemen and women who served in World War I are being sought for the tribute.
