Author Talks at Lockyer Valley Libraries underway for 2026

Australian Rural & Regional News reminds readers that a media release is a statement of the author given. Media releases vary widely in reliability and may contain a combination of fact, aspirational statements, opinion, political commentary and even error. Especially on contentious issues, we suggest our readers read widely and assess the statements made by different parties and form their own view.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Media Release, 23 February 2026

Lockyer Valley Libraries’ Author Talks for 2026 will kick start with author Frances Harding.

Frances’ latest title, The Accidental Publican, tells the story of her unexpected move to Charleville from Brisbane and her time as publican of the Corones Pub – ‘The Taj Mahal on the Warrego’.

Council’s Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said Council’s Author Talks were an opportunity to celebrate creativity and connection.

“Storytelling is one of the most meaningful ways to create connection.

“Come along to hear about Frances’ creative process, how characters are developed and what real-life inspirations are behind her work,” she said.

Cr Reck also encouraged anyone interested to attend the Libraries’ Writers’ Group.

“The Writers’ Group meets at the Gatton Library on the second Tuesday of the month and at the Laidley Library on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 12.30pm – 2.30pm.

“It’s an opportunity to provide an environment that is both creative and constructive for those wanting to either share their love of writing or develop their writing skills.

“New members are aways welcome.

“And don’t forget to join us this autumn for free learning programs and events at both our Gatton and Laidley branches, as well as online.

“You can find film screenings, digital literacy workshops/talks and much more happening near you,” Cr Reck said.
