125th Annual Berrigan Show celebrates with Lexus Melbourne Cup Visit
The 125th Annual Berrigan Show will be held this long weekend on Sunday 5 October, with a special visit from Australia’s most prestigious horse racing trophy, thanks to the support of the Berrigan & District Race Club.
Valued at $850,000 in solid Australian gold, the nearly four-kilogram Lexus Melbourne Cup is visiting Berrigan as part of its annual tour from New York to Normanton.
Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers shares, “the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour is one of the most significant ways we can share the excitement and legacy of the Lexus Melbourne Cup with communities across Australia and beyond”.
Visitors to the Berrigan Show will have the chance to see, hold, and even take a photo with the famous trophy, which last came to Berrigan nearly two decades ago.
“This milestone Berrigan Show will be one to remember”, said Berrigan Show Society Secretary Lyndall Horne.
In keeping with the cup’s visit, the Show program will feature a number of racing-themed attractions, including hobby horse races, a spring racing hat parade, Off-the-Track Equestrian classes featuring retired racehorses, and lots of special Melbourne Cup-inspired competitions across the Pavilion classes.
With a sunny day forecast, the Berrigan Show will deliver on a bumper day filled with fun and entertainment for the whole family.
The Show will be Officially Opened by The Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman, Cassandra Bush, at 12:30pm, followed by the Lexus Melbourne Cup presentation.
Traditional competitions will be complemented with family-friendly entertainment, sideshow alley, the return of the popular scarecrow decorating, the much-loved Hay Ho Animal Nursery, free facepainting with Cheeky Smiles Face Painting, local musicians, Kidz Zone, Children’s Pet Parade, and Junior Show Goers.
Berrigan Show Society President Neville Dalgliesh noted the time and energy of the committee, community and volunteers to put together a great show.
“I would like to once again thank all our wonderful sponsors, without their generous support we would not be able to run our show”, said Mr Dalgliesh.
Entry to the Berrigan Show is $15 per Adult, $5 for Pensioners of Children aged 10 to 16, and free for Children under 16. Membership Tickets can be purchased from the Berrigan Show Office at the Showgrounds until Friday at 5pm.
All attendees to the Berrigan Show will receive an entry ticket to the Lucky Gate Prize. The winner will receive a premium cabin for two nights at Kismet Riverside Lodge in Howlong.

Background on the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour
The 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour will see the $850,000 18-carat-gold trophy visit 36 destinations from New York to Normanton, giving fans and communities across the world the rare opportunity to see the prestigious prize up close and feel the magic of Australia’s most iconic race.
Now in its 23rd year, the Tour has travelled over one million kilometres, visiting more than 670 destinations, including 490 schools and 422 hospitals or aged care facilities.
Along the journey, the Tour has engaged in over 2,200 community events and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local fundraising initiatives.
Introduced in 2019, the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep is an important Victoria Racing Club charity initiative which sees 24 rural and regional towns allocated a barrier for the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup. Representatives from each of the 24 destinations will be flown to Melbourne to watch the Lexus Melbourne Cup live on track at Flemington and the town which draws the barrier of the winning horse will be presented with a cash prize to put towards a charity of their choice. Berrigan & District Race Club has nominated Horse Aid.
