It’s carnival time

The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Floral Parade weekend saw hundreds of visitors pass through Wyreema and Westbrook to see some beautiful Garden Competition entries and Succulent Fest.

Reigning Carnival of Flowers Garden Competition Regional Grand Champion winner Narelle Hurse of 4 Cashmore Street, Wyreema defended her title. Her garden can be viewed from 9am to 5pm up until this Sunday, 28 September.

Succulent Fest, held at Westbrook’s Bunker’s Hill State School is fast becoming one of the most popular events held during Carnival of Flowers. Perfect conditions on Sunday saw visitors browse 90 stalls including succulents, plants, handicrafts, outdoor wares and artisan goods.

Matthew Dolley’s garden, 24 Cashmore Street, Wyreema, won Regional Small/Medium Second Prize, Floral Garden First Prize and Under 45s First Prize.

Wyreema Community Garden won Not-for-Profit Premises First Prize.

Jeff and Cathy Aitchison’s garden, 51 Whitman Street, Westbrook, won Regional Small/Medium Third Prize.

William and Elisabeth Shepherd’s garden, 22 Whitman Street, Westbrook, won First Time Entry Third Prize.
