Gunshots leave community in shock

A wave of concern has swept through the Naracoorte community following a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 6.

South Australia Police (SAPOL) is actively investigating the event, which unfolded around 2.40am on Dorset Street, leaving residents stunned and seeking answers.

According to police, multiple gunshots were reported by residents in the area, prompting an immediate response.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a bullet hole in an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home.

According to police, witnesses also observed a vehicle speeding away from the scene shortly after the shots were fired. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the nature of the incident has raised serious concerns.

While the investigation remains in its early stages, authorities have indicated that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

When this newspaper [The Naracoorte News] visited the site at around midday on August 6, SAPOL detectives from the Limestone Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, along with forensic experts, were combing the scene for evidence.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, or who has relevant information, to come forward.
