Wimmera community to benefit from local auto auction

Recent stories

A “deceased” auction, August 10, has considerable personal interest to families living in the wider Wimmera region. The auction features some exceptionally rare passenger vehicles, circa late 1930s to the mid-1960s.

Vendor, Ann Vaughan has announced all proceeds, after expenses, will be distributed equally to two beneficiaries: Grampians Health, Edenhope, and, Harrow Bush Nursing Centre.

Here’s the back story; just after World War II two brothers, Don and Ray Pyers, established a property for grazing sheep located in township of Harrow, population 210. They worked hard and in their spare time, tinkered around rebuilding passenger cars, particularly Singer and Triumph. Their repair work was meticulous and the fame of the bachelor brothers grew. Their inventory of machinery expanded and the once small workshop grew in leaps and bounds.

The online auction on August 10 will include major marquees of passenger vehicles of the era: 1963/4 Triumph TR4; 1934 Singer; Singer Le Mans; 1929 Singer Junior; Riley RM; Jaquar; Land Rover; 1964 Honda. Plus, workshop machinery, tools and collectables. They are all to be auctioned; no reserve price. All profits to help the health and lifestyle of locals.

Details of the unusual, feel-good auction from Martin Evans Auctions 0418 509 134.
