Inspiring the next generation: Byron Writers Festival

Australian Rural & Regional News reminds readers that a media release is a statement of the author given. Media releases vary widely in reliability and may contain a combination of fact, aspirational statements, opinion, political commentary and even error. Especially on contentious issues, we suggest our readers read widely and assess the statements made by different parties and form their own view.

Byron Writers Festival, Media Release, 12 July 2025

If your kids or grandkids love books, then the Byron Writers Festival’s Kids Program is the ultimate event to nurture their love of storytelling, while having a blast at the same time!

Hosted by comedian Peter Helliar, budding bookworms will be entertained by writers including Tony Armstong in his exclusive Byron Writers Festival appearance, delighted by storytime with Anita Heiss and can dance along with The Gumboots. Look out for the Spaghetti Circus stiltwalkers as they wander around the grounds.

On Sunday 10 August the Lilly Pilly stage transforms into an immersive storytelling arena where authors and illustrators take to the stage to entertain, inspire and delight.

Kids can also explore the StoryBoard space at the Coolamon tent, where our famous StoryBoard bus and tipi village comes alive with free drop-in workshops for aspiring young writers and illustrators.

Don’t miss this fantastic family event.
