Photographer Jodie Harris is a finalist in the 2025 National Photographic Portrait Prize. None of the photos pictured here have been chosen for the competition as it is still under wraps.

Jodie is a photographer of Yamatji and Wajari descent and she lives and works on Bundjalung Country in Kyogle.

Jodie’s photos explore identity, memory, and connection to Country.

“Each year I take the opportunity to learn and grow as a photographer,” Jodie said.

“Photographic portraiture is something I continue to be drawn to for its enduring power to tell a story.”

The National Photographic Portrait Prize is $30,000 in cash and $20,000 in Canon equipment, as well as the possibility of the Art Handlers’ Award and the People’s Choice Award, valued at $3,000 and $10,000 respectively.

The works of all finalists, including Jodie’s, will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery from August 16 to October 12, before touring nationally.

Jodie has entered the Prize for several years and her perseverance has taken her to the finalist level this year.

Jodie runs her photography business through 6 Acre Studios in Kyogle.

The photographs displayed here are some of her other portraits.

IndyNR.com will let you know how Jodie gets on and reveal her finalist photo of a well known local when it is released by the National Photographic Portrait Prize.

Now in its 18th year, the annual prize is hosted by the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and celebrates outstanding photographic portraiture that reflects the depth of contemporary Australian life.
