The Barham Koondrook Pastoral, Agricultural, and Horticultural Show Society is sounding the alarm: without a dedicated secretary and additional volunteers, this year’s iconic community show faces cancellation. Time is running out, and we need your help to keep this beloved tradition alive!

As an incorporated public society and proud member of both AgShows NSW and Victorian Agricultural Shows (VAS), the organization is governed by a constitution that mandates a secretary to operate legally and secure essential insurance through AgShows NSW. Tragically, due to unforeseen circumstances, we currently have no secretary, putting the entire show at risk. Without a secretary in place within the next three weeks, there will be no Barham Koondrook Show this year.

The secretary’s role is vital to our success, with responsibilities including:

• Recording and distributing meeting minutes to members.
• Managing all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Coordinating with AgShows NSW and VAS to ensure compliance and support.
• Overseeing sub-committees and individuals organizing show activities.
• Serving on the Executive Committee alongside the President and Treasurer to lead the event.

The show committee is seeking a committed individual to step into this pivotal role. While some computer skills are beneficial, support and guidance will be provided to help the successful candidate thrive. This is a chance to make a lasting impact on our community by ensuring the show goes on!

Beyond the secretary position, we urgently need more volunteers to share the load in organizing this cherished event. It’s not fair to rely on just a few dedicated hands—every helper counts in bringing our show to life.

This is an urgent appeal to save the Barham Koondrook Show. With only three weeks left to secure a secretary and rally support, time is of the essence. Without swift action, we won’t be able to make the necessary contacts or complete registration as a Show Society.
